New research from the Institute of Directors shows that up to two thirds of businesses in the UK, with less than 10 employees, are still not connected to the Internet.
The IOD warns that this could put them at risk of losing business or failing to keep up with their peers in continental Europe.
In a partnership with UK Online, the IOD has produced a guide entitled ‘Your Business and the Internet’.
The guide is targeted at SMEs and aims to help them understand how to get the most out of the Internet.
It provides guidelines on doing business online, and explains how to set up a website and make VoIP phone calls and conferences.
The guide provides straightforward information about what can be achieved with limited resources, in an effort to fill gap in information provision about Internet opportunities.
Most information for business users tends to be tailored at a technical and strategic level.
