Google changes the cache?

Wiep says he’s seeing changes to Google’s cache template, with the interesting observation that it seems language dependent.

The latter is potentially a key observation if it’s not linguistics but geotargeting that sets this off.

Especially in context with the earlier reported problems with Google UK over June, where some major category pages were disappearing in lieu of deeper product pages.

Now here’s a really tin-foil hat thought for the day: what if Google process their rankings from cache data, rather than live web data?

It’s not a major issue for your personal sites, webmaster tools is still providing indexing information, but checking IBL quality of a site is not so easy without a date.
