Not every business purchase is tax deductible

Interesting thread on the forums: Splitting the cost of a new phone for business & personal use.

Frauke Golding makes some good points in posts 3,8, and 10 about how HMRC doesn’t consider every purchase as tax deductible.

Even a Blackberry is defined as a personal computer, and therefore may not allow for tax concessions.

And even buying a business suit may not be, apparently:

we have to wear clothing for decency purposes and therefore duality of purpose is the reason clothing is not a allowable business expense

Whatever you fear, fear the taxman most. :)
