Strong dollar good for Adsense
by Brian Turner
The BBC reports that the pound has plummetted to a 2 year low against the dollar – which is good news for those earning from US advertising programs, not least through Adsense earnings.
Two weeks ago, the GBP was 1.99 to the USD – now it stands at 1.86.
This means that two weeks ago $1,000 was worth £502.51 – but is now worth £537.63.
For publishers earning $10,000 on Adsense, this represents an extra £350 income just due to the exchange rate.
Which is welcome, as the summer tends to be particularly slow, so the falling exchange rate should help make up for generally lower traffic figures.
Of course, not so good news for those whose flow of cash is mostly into USD – your outsource costs just went up 7% in real terms.
For those Brits with shares on the New York Stock exchange it’s also good news, as the value of those shares just climbed solely due to the movements in currency exchange.

However the movement for the dollar has been mostly down for the last few years and for many people (including me) who receive payment in Euro’s we’re getting paid less…
So I wouldn’t call it “strong dollar”
Sorry, should clarify – stronger dollar for those in the UK. :)
