Have you tested your ecommerce site?

by Brian Turner

Do you test your e-commerce site once it’s live?

Yes?

On different screen resolutions?

On different browsers?

Under what conditions?

I run into problems with remarkable frequency.

I found the following message on an e-commerce site while shopping today:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error ‘80040e31′

Timeout expired

/pf/pages/Moreinfo_sql.inc, line 88

Was this your site?

No? Are you sure?

I found what I wanted on another site.

Even on that other site, I had to keep refreshing the order form because it wouldn’t display the order details properly in Firefox.

If this was your site, how many sales would you lose?

Yesterday I set up a custom order form for one of my own customers. I thought to test the order form. I’d set up the amount in US dollars instead of pounds sterling.

How often do you test your e-commerce site?
