SEO vs PPC

One of the most ridiculous arguments you will sometimes see on business forums is that of SEO vs PPC.

Some PPC specialists will argue that what SEO may deliver is so vague, that PPC is the only way to go because it’s easier to measure.

Some SEO specialists that SEO is more cost effective, therefore SEO in the only way to go because it has a lower CPA.

Both arguments are based on empty bias, and to rely on just a single marketing channel - not least SEO - is a precarious way to engage in marketing.

SEO and PPC are both valid marketing channels, and as such, a company looking to market on the internet should ideally look to leverage PPC and SEO campaigns, amongst others.

While good PPC will deliver results more immediately, SEO provides a potentially stong long-term method of bringing in sales traffic.

Both methods also compliment each other well - it well documented through various studies that when a company runs a strong PPC campaign and then achieves strong natural rankings, both marketing signals reinforce each other, improving CTR on PPC ads.

Overall, any business serious about internet marketing should seriously consider applying marketing strategies that include both PPC and SEO.

They are not rival strategies, but complimentary ones, and when applied intelligently, open up a breadth of opportunity for any business taking this approach.

I think that ppc can drive more traffic to a website then doing seo for it!

I think both are in many ways budget dependent, but CPA for SEO as cheaper while PPC is more immediate. Either way, I’m not going to knock either as a method. :)

SEO can be cheaper than PPC long term as once you rank with solid foundations you normally stay there for a long time. How ever if you PPC and rank as well your domain name gets more visabiliy and branding therefore you will get more clicks on your organic lisitng even if your 3rd but 2 nd on PPC. PPC has benefits of regional targeting and is good for researching do certain keywords creat sales.

Got something to say?
