Sony laptop batteries recall continues

The recall of laptop batteries made by Sony continued this month as Toshiba recalled over 340,000 batteries from its laptops.

The affected Toshiba laptops are the Dynabook and Dynabook Satellite, made between March and May of this year. The reason for the recall is that these batteries can lose power too quickly.

The recall comes on the heels of a major recall of Sony-made laptop batteries in Dell laptops and Apple powerboooks over the past month, which were accused of over-heating or even bursting into flame.

The total recall of Sony laptop batteries now stands at over 6 million faulty batteries.

Although the number of complaints of overheating were small, it was considered serious enough to condemn the Sony-made laptop batteries as faulty.

No details are provided on the costs involved, but it is believed that Sony will be footing the bill in all instances.
