Windows Vista: Six versions coming
by Brian Turner

Microsoft have announced that their follow-up to Windows XP will come in 6 versions.
Named Windows Vista, it has been under development with the codename “Longhorn” since the development of Windows XP.
It plans to feature key improvements to graphics, multimedia, and search functions.
The planned versions include 3 different levels of home licences, and 3 different levels for business use. A 6th option is for emerging markets.
The six are currently named as follows:
Vista Starter
Vista Home Basic
Vista Home Premium
Vista Business
Vista Enterprise
Vista Ultimate
The arrival of Windows Vista will certainly be a long-awaited event. However, to keep share-holders happy, Microsoft have been forced to cut down on their original vision of how Vista may work.
While Vista should present a significant step forward from Windows XP, it certainly won’t be the last.
