e-commerce essential for business success
by Jan Harris
According to PayPoint’s ‘Powering Small Business Britain’ report, over a quarter of SMEs are not trading online, even though they believe that e-retail is important.
One of the main reasons for this seems to be concern over the risks associated with e-commerce.
Even though online trading allows businesses to reach customers they would otherwise not attract, a third of small businesses are put off by the risk of internet fraud, while a further 57 per cent believed they would not be able to generate traffic to their website.
Over a third of small businesses, however, believe that most of their revenues will come from online trading over the next five years.
The report was compiled from a survey of over 800 small businesses in the UK, by PayPoint.net and YouGov.
