Apple to integrate Facebook in iPhone OS 4?

by Darren Allan

The latest rumour about all things Apple comes regarding the upcoming OS 4 for the iPhone.

We already know that OS 4 will include multi-tasking, as well as numerous tweaks to the interface, and the company’s new iAds platform.

Now it appears that Apple may be planning to integrate Facebook fully into the operating system.

This rumour started at the Gunning for Safety blog – a nailgun safety site, rather bizarrely.

At any rate, the safe nailers (makes them sound like a sex education campaign) had a peek inside an iPhone system file, and discovered it looks like Apple is shaping up to include Facebook in the fabric of the OS.

Apparently Facebook’s events could be implemented in the iPhone calendar, and the social networking site’s friend list could be integrated directly into the iPhone’s contacts.

It’s certainly not beyond the realms of believability.

OS 4 for the iPhone is due this summer, alongside the strong possibility of a new version of the iPhone handset (images and details of which have appeared on the net this week, after a presumably worse-for-wear Apple employee left a prototype in a bar).
