Apple refuses iPad 2 affiliate payments
by Brian Turner
Apple has officially announced through Tradedoubler that iPad 2 sales will not be credited to affiliates who promote it.
The move comes as Apple is expected to break sales records with the launch of the iPad 2.
While no doubt Apple does not need the extra marketing – there is plenty enough hype as it is – it does seem somewhat mean-spirited for Apple to tell its affiliates to not promote it, and expect no commission on any iPad 2 promotions to date.
While the iPad 2 is available for pre-order on the UK Apple Online Store, effective Friday, March 25th 2011, it will not at this time be a commissionable product pursuant to your agreement with Apple and no promotional assets will be provided. In addition, please refrain from promoting iPad on your site. iPad is excluded from all aggregate sales figures for the purposes of fee or commission calculations; for the purposes of any click through, commission shall be zero percent (0%).
Notwithstanding any other terms and conditions in any agreement you have with Apple, under no circumstances are you, your affiliates or publishers permitted to use in any manner Apple’s iPad trademark or image, or use Apple’s iPad trademark in a trade name or domain name, either by itself or in combination with other terms.
We appreciate your continued focus on other successful Apple products including the MacBook line, iMac and engraved iPod models. We will notify you if at any time the iPad becomes a commissionable product. In the meantime, check out the other great promotions we are running:
- Apple certified refurbished deals
- Free shipping on orders over £80 (inc. VAT)
- Free engraving on all new iPod models
- Education pricing available for students and teachers
Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions.
