Oxford-based mobile entertainment company, Yamgo Ltd, has joined with software development company Tom Horn, to launch a mobile video sharing service and the world’s first free-to-view mobile TV network

The new social networking platform is available via www.yamgo.tv. It can be accessed on any video-enabled mobile device, on any mobile phone network with WAP access, from anywhere in the world via http://yamgo.mobi

Yamgo’s new service allows videos to be shared directly from a mobile device. Users can upload videos from their mobile phone or via the www.yamgo.tv website.

The service provides free-to-view mobile TV channels, live broadcasts, and user-generated content over 2.5G (GPRS) and 3G networks (EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA).

Premium content such as live broadcasts, mobile TV series and downloads will available on a subscription, pay-per-view, or pay-per-download basis.

Yamgo.tv is initially focused on extreme sports content but will be broadened into other categories.

The service is based on Tom Horn’s automated encoding engine called FRIEZE which allows real-time or pre-recorded content to be delivered directly to electronic devices.
