Microsoft Corp plans to demonstrate its latest Xbox technology at The Connected Home show at London’s Olympia in March.

The technology bring together two of Microsoft’s leading entertainment products, the Xbox 360â„¢ gaming console and the Microsoft TV IPTV Edition software platform, to create a new digital entertainment offering with some unique features.

IPTV on Xbox 360 allows consumers to use the gaming console to watch television programmes delivered by their broadband provider. The company has secured deals with leading telecoms service providers to use Microsoft IPTV Edition, including AT& T, BT, Deutsche Telekom, T-Online in France and Swisscom. The first services should be available by Christmas.

The integration of a video gaming console with IPTV is expected to provide an advanced TV service and next-generation gaming capabilities, plus unique new features. Xbox Live, an online social network, will provide community-based features, including voice chat, sending and receiving text and voice messages, and accessing Xbox Live Marketplace, all while watching TV.
