"Are you sure anything *really* annoys google? "

Ask anyone who ever got penalised from Google's results. :)

"although am enjoying the inherent creativity involved in link building, its slow and frustrating."

Absolutely required for long-term goals, I think. While any established website will naturally have some spammy links (scrapers, splogs, etc), it's the quality links that will make all the difference. :)

This post was so timely, am new to the game (amateurish SEO) and although am enjoying the inherent creativity involved in link building, its slow and frustrating.

One looks in envy at the big guys and their tricky methods, however unlike them, I have to give a shit, as this are my own sites and will in the long term put food on my table...

Come have a look and please feel free to offer some real insights.

Are you sure anything *really* annoys google? As long as it does not actually interfere with the adwords cash cow, I wonder if they could be bothered these days.

Now, time to look at how that digitalpoint actually works. :)

It's the clumsy way some of these big SEO companies do it that amazes me - mass link buying request emails sent to anyone with a relevant site, then big paid ads on university websites. Just the kind of thing to annoy Google. :)
