In response to a recent report predicting that the Internet will soon start to slow significantly, broadband resource provider, Operax, has suggested that investment in new networks is not the only solution.
The report, which was produced by Nermetes Research suggested that the internet would be unable to cope with the scale of data being exchanged, by 2010.
According to Operax, which provides resource and admission control solutions for IP networks, the Internet was simply not designed to cope with increasing demand from bandwith-hungry services such as YouTube, Facebook and MySpace.
Operax believes that building new networks will only provide a temporary solution, and says that operators and ISPs should become smarter in the way they utilise their networks.
The company is promoting the use of technology which allows operators to view the network resources they have in use, and manage them so that they are deployed as efficiently as possible.
This would allow premium services to be allocated adequate resources to safeguard the quality of a particular session or service.
Operax is a privately held company with headquarters in Stockholm and offices in Boston, USA; London, Rome, and Lulea, Sweden.
