SMEs optimistic for New Year according to Orange

by Jan Harris

A new study by telecom operator Orange finds that three quarters of small firms are optimistic about the coming year with more than a quarter of SMEs planning to recruit more employees that they did this year.

Out of the 2,100 firms polled by Orange, seventy four per cent said they might introduce flexible working practices in 2011, mainly with the aim of increasing efficiency.

In order to support the move to flexible working, fifty two percent of the firms surveyed said they intended to invest more on information technology, especially communications equipment such as mobile WiFi.

Small firms also plan to invest in social media and business applications.

More than three quarters of the firms polled by Orange thought that the economic climate would either remain the same or improve in 2011.
