Market towns to get BT’s superfast broadband

by Jan Harris

BT Group has announced the addition of 41 market towns across the UK to its 40Mbit/s broadband roll-out, which should be available from spring next year.

785 cabinets, serving around eight million properties, have already been earmarked to be upgraded with the new infrastructure, which is costing £2.5 billion.

However the service will not be available at some premises in the 41 market towns because of difficulties associated with their location, which can only be overcome in partnership with other organisations.

BT is keen to establish partnerships in both the private and public sector to discuss how technical and economic problems can be overcome.
